Investing in Washington's Future Leaders: A Message from Dr. Gwynth Nelson

Communities In Schools, Washington State office is happy to announce a $40,000 funding award from Social Venture Partners Seattle. The award marks the start of a longer-term relationship with SVP Seattle, which will combine grant dollars with volunteer hours to help Communities In Schools organizations across Washington expand their capacity to help more children and youth.

The state office was chosen for the highly competitive award because of its ability to provide essential supports in resource development, communications and marketing, and field services to its network of twelve locally-based Communities In Schools organizations in Washington. By providing an economy of scale and depth of expertise in areas that complement direct-service work the state office amplifies each local organization’s ability to expand their reach and deepen their level of support to thousands of young people across Washington.

”Communities In Schools is an excellent partner for SVP Seattle,” said Executive Director, Paul Shoemaker. “By working with the state’s umbrella organization, our investments are multiplied. All of the CIS local chapters will benefit as well, ensuring that CIS can help more kids in Washington’s schools.”
