You’ve probably seen the billboards, now look for the TV commercial.
We’ve just completed the PSA for the “Schools Can’t Do it Alone” campaign. The TV spot, an animated version of the billboard “empty desks” image, airs in May on the local Comcast Cable feed and on KING5, and joins billboard and transit ads urging folks to get involved in their local schools.
The campaign is underwritten by Comcast Cable and ClearChannel Outdoor with donated television and billboard placements each valued in the six-figures. Both companies have provided strong support over the past few years – the fourth year of Comcast support. We’re lucky in this area to have major media outlets who care so deeply about education and back-up their beliefs with solid support.

“We like this campaign in particular because it addresses a larger issue faced by public education. Schools really can’t do it alone, and we can ALL help,” said Elaine Kitamura of Clear Channel Outdoor.
The campaign was truly a group effort: GA Creative donated their services to produce the billboard and set the theme. Local designer and mastermind, Mark Notermann, directed and animated the TV spot with help from Lisa Halpern & Jose Gonzales who developed the script, recruited the talent and recorded the audio.

Says Walter Neary of Comcast, “Communities In Schools makes smart use of limited resources – this campaign is no exception. We wish them the best and hope it drives more support for the Washington network.”
Well said.
Thanks to all involved – your work is directly tied to helping more kids work toward success in school and life!
