Our Roots in Washington
CIS has been working in Washington since 1991, when local business and education leaders came together to address the growing needs of students beyond the classroom. What began in the Puget Sound has grown into a statewide network that partners with schools and communities to surround students with a system of integrated support.
Today, CIS of Washington is a statewide office that works alongside 10 independent affiliates, 2 emerging affiliates and 1 state office.
Together, we reach over 100,000 students across urban, rural, and suburban communities, helping them overcome barriers and stay on the path to graduation.

About the State Office
The CIS of Washington state office exists to strengthen, resource, and expand the work of our local affiliates. Our focus areas include:
Organizational Health – Supporting affiliates to operate strong, sustainable agencies led by well-trained boards and executive directors.
Service Delivery Impact – Ensuring fidelity to the CIS model and using data to guide student supports.
Network Resource Development – Cultivating statewide funding, tools, and training that strengthen local fundraising and operations.
Partnerships and Coalitions – Building visibility and impact through collaboration with state-level partners, businesses, and coalitions.
Expanding Reach – Engaging school districts and communities to bring CIS services to more students across Washington.
