By all appearances, Angela Wilborn’s young life pointed toward a bleak future: She was one of four kids from three dads and the oldest daughter of a woman sent to prison as a result of an addiction to crack cocaine. By the time Wilborn made it out of high school, she had been to eight public schools.
But Wilborn met Michelle Mundy, fresh out of the University of Texas, as a kindergartner. Their 17-year relationship is what gave Wilborn the crucial support she needed to stay in school and pursue a college degree, she said.
