In December of 2008 Kaylee Henderson moved from Nixa, Missouri to Auburn to work as an AmeriCorp VISTA volunteer with Communities In Schools. VISTA volunteers serve one year terms and receive an educational award upon completion.
Kaylee works with Communities In Schools as a program coordinator where among her many accomplishments she expanded services at Mt. Baker and Cascade Middle Schools, collaborated with the School District, Auburn Arts, Parks and Recreation to launch a Soccer Club and Golf Club at Cascade, and worked to add a special ELL tutoring program.

“This has been a wonderful experience and I’ve learned a lot. It’s definitely the best thing I’ve done with my life so far.” ~Kaylee Henderson
The Citizen of the Quarter award is presented by the Auburn Chamber of Commerce to recognize and honor members of the community who voluntarily contribute generously of their time, wisdom and talents in ways that make a significant difference.
Says Kaylee who plans to stay in Auburn after her term, “this has been a wonderful experience and I’ve learned a lot. It’s definitely the best thing I’ve done with my life so far.” Big congratulations to Kaylee and to the citizens of Auburn who have added to their community someone who not only cares but backs her care with action. Way to go for all involved!
