On March 5th, over 270 guests gathered at the Bellevue Hilton for a night of fun and generosity at the annual Mardi Gras Dinner and Auction, presented by Matisia Consultants. The evening began with a cocktail hour followed by carnival style festivities which included a tarot card reader, a caricaturist, contortionists, and a highly competitive dessert dash.
The silent and live auctions boasted 100 items and packages ranging from spa packages to vacations and experiences. After the auction closed and dinner was served, Soraia Francisco, Site Coordinator at Thomas Jefferson High School and her student Irene spoke on the value of CIS programs in the lives of students.
This year, thanks to generous sponsors and donors, Communities In Schools (CIS) of Washington raised over $178,000, which is a record profit for the gala. The proceeds will help CIS of Washington support services to almost 80,000 students after having support services integrated into 12 CIS of Washington communities across 18 different school districts.
