A leader in emergency management and public communications, Mike Halliday currently serves with Tacoma Public Utilities, bringing more than 25 years of experience in media, crisis response, and public affairs.

Mike’s background includes coordinating messaging with PIOs across agencies during major incidents and preparing elected officials, school leaders, and executives for media interviews—as well as serving as a spokesperson himself.

He began his career as a newspaper reporter covering law enforcement, local politics, and education before transitioning into public sector communications, including nearly seven years with Kent School District and a decade with Pierce County.

Mike also has a personal connection to the Communities In Schools network—his wife is an elementary school principal who partners closely with her CIS Site Coordinator, and a family member works within a CIS affiliate.
