Julie (she/her) has served as a leader on the CISWA Board of Directors for more than twelve of the last 15 years, serving two stints. During her time with the board she served as Board Chair in the early 2010s, leading through a high-growth period. Most recently she served as the Board Development Committee Chair. Julie got involved with CIS because she believes in the power and multiplying effect of people networks to serve kids and communities across Washington State.
Julie brings 20+ years of experience in human resources, organizational development, and non-profit board experience. She spent her early career in architecture working for Seattle-area design firms. Since then, she’s translated her whole-systems and design thinking into facilitating and architecting people and organizational systems for mission-driven organizations. She spent nearly 15 years at Starbucks corporate. Since then, she has worked for Amazon and Nordstrom.
Her childhood spent in Southwest Washington, Julie graduated from Castle Rock High School—Go Rockets! She has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Architecture from the University of WA (Seattle) and a Master’s of Arts in Organizational Development & Leadership from Fielding Graduate University.
Julie lives with her husband, Howard, in Seattle. She has a step-son and 2-yr old granddaughter and is happily referred to as “Aunt JuJu” by her 3 nieces and nephew.
Recently Julie decided to spend her primary focus leading the CISWA board. Her hobbies include nature photography, hiking, playing piano and amateur singing.
