Through school-based coordination, CIS connects students and their families to critical community resources to address children’s unmet needs. We work closely with local school districts, social service organizations and businesses to connect schools and students with the resources that facilitate academic success and the development of important life skills. CIS makes a difference for children in the schools it serves.
AmeriCorps members will serve in elementary, middle and high schools throughout Washington State. With CIS Site Coordinators, members will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the CIS model of integrated student supports in designated school sites. The member will coordinate with community partners and volunteers to marshal resources necessary to address the academic, social and emotional needs of students who are at risk of dropping out of school. Through the coordination of individual and group interventions as well as prevention activities the member is a key player in helping students stay in school and remain on track to graduate.
